Why use a screwdriver to do hammer’s job?

While working on a commercial project, I’ve been trying to tweak the settings to see the possibility of further balancing the quality/render time. Well the result is here.

The render time is exactly the same (8.6sec) whereas the renders are quite different. The right side (B) used VRay default setting,

DMC max subdivs:4; Lighting and material subdivs: 8; Adaptive amount: 0.85; Noise threshold: 0.01

and the left side (A) is the optimised setting

noise threshold: 0.005; Adaptive amount: 0.8
